Step 25: Manage energy

Burning the midnight oil right now, and a few minutes away from exhaustion and a good night's sleep. Wrote a good amount today, though my energy did not pick up till the late afternoon.

To get past an element of frustration, when I get to sections of the draft where I need a new character or some detail of the world in terms of a micro-location (like a landmark in a city), Italicise and leave an editing not for my future self to come up with something then.

Things like that are speedbumps and can threaten to bring on a bout of pointless and overly pedantic frustration, whereas I'm beginning to see that one of the resources I have to manage is energy and willpower- the easier it is to write, the better. I wrote 200 words in 25 minutes earlier in the day, then over one thousand later on. The inconsistency of speed comes down to meta-reasons, not some standard pace that I just turn on and off.

Not sure if that applies to anyone else.

The featured image has nothing whatsoever to do with this topic, but I'm about to pass out and it's motivating anyway. I think. I may write more about it at a later point.

I managed almost 4k today. Though the quality varies.
